The buildings of this multifunctional complex share a core function related to exhibition activities. The complex is situated on a trapezoidal site, formerly owned by the Shushary Sovkhoz, bordering on the Pulkovskoe highway, just a ten-minute drive from the Pulkovo airport.
The Expoforum complex comprises an exhibition center, a convention center, business-centers, 3- and 4-star hotels, along with a transport and freight forwarding hub and utility infrastructure facilities. The tall part of the convention center, the hotels, and two business-centers are joined together and located along the front line of the complex buildings – they form the front façade of the whole Expoforum, which faces the highway. Convention center halls and three exhibition pavilions are arranged orthogonally to the main façade, joined together by a common passageway, and covered with a corrugated roof with round roof lanterns. The pavilions façades are decorated with ceramic panels bearing photoprints of Saint Petersburg views.
Expoforum has a vivid modernist style. The amber color of the façades has become an outstanding feature of the complex, being preserved regardless of the finishing materials used. The overall style originates in the rhythmic patterns of the window openings, the color scheme of the interfenestral spaces, and the fenestration pattern. The whole extensive ensemble is to be visually emphasised by a spectacular apron above the front entrance.
