The residential building is compositionally encased into a closed quadrangle of a trapezoid form. The building is located in a green, rather open space. The dimensional and sculptural solution creates a relationship between Verona and the Renaissance palazzos of Northern Italy. The main façade finish is made of natural stone and emphasized by a porch with four Corinthian columns standing on a rusticated basis of the lower floors. The porch terminates with a pediment with an outstanding cornice. The flank facades are made of brick and include elements carved in stone. The combination of light limestone and brickwork is typical for Italian Renaissance and Baroque architecture. The neoclassical traits continue into the interior of the entrance lobby of the building. The combination of classical architectural forms with the modern glazing of the tambour, the avant-garde furniture, and the lighting creates a sense of the real time, a dialogue between the past and the present. The project of the Verona residential building is close to another project implemented by the workshop, the Venezia residential building. Still, Verona is an independent project with its own logic. |
